In addition to its traditional use as a research library, the George Peabody Library is now available as an event space. It is a setting of great beauty, unique in Baltimore, and worthy of your most significant celebrations. Whether you would like to host an intimate luncheon for 40, a seated dinner with dancing for 170, a seated dinner for 200, or a cocktail party and dance for 400, you'll find the space to be as flexible as it is elegant. Wedding ceremonies are available in conjunction with a reception for a fee of $600.
The outer Exhibit Room, used most often as a setting for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before dinner, offers your guests a warm welcome amid cases that display manuscripts and illustrated texts from the library's collections. As a setting for the main event, whether a dinner, wedding, press reception, retirement party, fundraising dance or celebration of your company's most recent success, the soaring stack room is incomparable. Your guests will be surrounded by six tiers of stately cast-iron columns, decorative railings, and classical embellishments touched with gold-leaf in this room that rises 61 feet from its black-and-white marble floor to the massive skylight that caps the central interior. A space of exquisite symmetry in the neo-Grec style, the stack room lends an atmosphere of history and accomplishment to every event. Warmly lit, the space is so perfectly proportioned that, although the room is monumental, the feeling is intimate.
Though The George Peabody Library is part of the Sheridan Libraries Special Collections at Johns Hopkins University, it is housed in the world-reknown Peabody Institute of Music facilities. Because of the libraries close proximity to the many concert and recital halls, certain music restrictions are applied. Please contact the event department at The George Peabody Library for more information.
The Peabody library is connected to the world renown Peabody Institute of Music. Music restrictions do apply during the academic year. Due to on going concert calender and performing arts schedule. Please inquire to the Private Events office of the Peabody Library for details.
