Seasonal Summer Flavors for Your Philadelphia Wedding

Summer weddings are upon us so we turned to Peachtree & Ward Catering and Events to find out which flavors capture the season.

What 4 appetizers do you suggest for a summer wedding reception and why?

All are of the season and light. The beignet is a great counterpoint to champagne or a vodka cocktail.

Appetizers:

  • Cauliflower beignet with shishido pepper remoulade
  • Roast pork belly on papadam
  • Honeydew soup shooter
  • Vietnamese summer roll with mango and fresh mint

What flavor combinations are at their peak for appetizers or salads?

Flavor Combos:

  • Heirloom tomato salad with housemade burrata and silver queen corn vinaigrette--the perfect balance of summer's bounty.
  • Watermelon salad with bulgarian feta, kalamata olives, red onion, extra virgin olive oil and opal basil.
  • Roasted red, yellow and candy-striped beets with Hudson Flower sheeps milk cheese and roasted walnut "jam."

What desserts or drinks help cool off guests during a sweltering summer reception?

Desserts/Drinks:

  • Miniature Red Haven peach tartlet with lattice crust
  • Homemade lemonade with fresh raspberry ice cubes and a dash of raspberry vodka
  • Tasting spoons of passion fruit, pomegranate and lemon sorbetti
