How to Create an Elegant Barn Wedding

When it comes to creating an elegant rustic barn wedding, tables aren't the only places where textiles play an important role.

It is key also to utilize the unique architecture of the barn to your advantage for an elegant rustic barn wedding. For example, in our “Vintage Circus Theme” wedding reception styled shoot, we were able to play up the dimension in the barn interior and reception space by draping sheer white fabric and stringing lights throughout the rafters, and then adding other elements like hula hoops and parasols.

When choosing linens for your elegant rustic barn wedding, there are several different approaches you can take depending on the type of rustic look you are trying to create. For the long Farm Tables in our “Vintage Circus Theme” shoot, we borrowed a bold look from the “Big Top” with linens from Gala Cloths Fabulous & Affordable Linen Rentals – “Stripe Black & White” from the Prints & Novelties linen gallery and Bengalines in Black, White, and Red for Tablecloths, Table Runners and Napkins.

“Stripe” also accents the groom’s boutonniere and the bride’s bouquet. We added some colorful burlap table runners on select tables. Some other options would be to mix and match table linens, add lace overlays, or incorporate some ruffled linens on your special or accent tables like the Sweetheart Table or Escort Table. Twine and yarn can be used to tie around your napkins.

To complement table linens, the seating can also be dressed up to help create the elegant rustic look by adding burlap and lace chair sashes or even full burlap chair covers. Ruffled chair covers and accent elements like ribbon can also contribute to a lovely vintage rustic look.

There are some unlikely combinations that truly complement each other for this theme. In a rustic barn wedding, the most typical unlikely combination that complements each other is burlap and lace.
