The Other Barn is a rustic wedding in Oakland Mills, Maryland offering a collection of thoughtfully restored event spaces that blend country character with warmth and flexibility. Originally part of a working farm, the property has been carefully reimagined to host weddings that feel welcoming and memorable. It has three distinctive event spaces: The Loft, The Courtyard and The Smithy/Tack Room.

The Loft

Once a traditional hayloft, The Loft now serves as the venue’s primary reception space. Original wooden high-beam ceilings, a newly installed hardwood floor, and an open floor plan create an inviting atmosphere filled with natural charm. Maple benches border the room, offering both functional seating and decorative flexibility.

The Courtyard

Adjacent to The Loft, the flower-filled Courtyard offers a bright, open-air setting perfect for ceremonies, portraits, or relaxed moments throughout the event. This space allows guests to step outside and enjoy fresh air while remaining connected to the celebration.
Up to 175 white fan-backed chairs may be arranged for ceremonies for an additional fee. The Courtyard is available exclusively in conjunction with a Loft rental.

Smithy / Tack Room

The Smithy/Tack Room provides an intimate setting well suited for cocktail hour or smaller gatherings. Fully carpeted and located on the main level, this space features original glass barn doors that once served as livestock entrances and now open onto the Courtyard, filling the room with natural light. The Smithy/Tack Room accommodates up to 65 guests and may be rented individually Monday through Thursday or paired with The Loft Friday through Sunday.

Together, these interconnected spaces allow couples to design a wedding day that flows naturally from one moment to the next, all within the character-rich setting of The Other Barn.
