A Lancaster Wedding Venue with Mansion Vows and Lantern-Lit Receptions

Historic Rock Ford is a wedding venue in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, set on 33 acres of gardens and woodland surrounded by Lancaster County Central Park. The estate includes the circa-1794 General Edward Hand Mansion, whose late-Georgian architecture brings a distinctive setting to outdoor ceremonies and wedding portraits.

Celebrations move between the mansion grounds, a stone-walled barn, and an adjoining reception tent. The property hosts only one event per weekend, giving couples time to settle in, rehearse, and prepare.

Event Spaces & Capacity

  • Reception Barn: Hand-hewn beams, stone interior walls, handcrafted Colonial-style lanterns, and a period-style bar define the interior. Heating, air conditioning, and adjustable lighting provide modern comfort.

  • Reception Tent: The included 40-by-60-foot white pole tent features café lighting and seats up to 150 guests. A larger tent option accommodates up to 250. The tent stands on a concrete pad beside the barn.

  • Sycamore Tree & Mansion Front: An outdoor ceremony setting pairing the tree with the historic mansion façade.

  • Piazza & Mansion Rear: Another ceremony option offering a different perspective on the house.

  • The Meadow: An open-air alternative for couples who prefer a landscape-centered ceremony.

  • Getting-Ready Spaces: The Katharine Suite on the mansion’s third floor has salon chairs, makeup vanities, a kitchenette, and a restroom. A Bridal Cottage and separate Groom’s Room provide additional preparation areas.

Catering & Bar Service

Couples may choose their own caterer and RAMP-certified bartender, along with other wedding vendors.

A dedicated catering area includes refrigeration, a freezer, microwave, commercial sink, and preparation tables, giving the catering team a separate workspace.

Why Couples Love Historic Rock Ford

Historic Rock Ford offers a choice of ceremony landscapes alongside the character of a historic estate. Couples can marry near the mansion, gather beneath café lights, and dance inside the barn without leaving the property.

Optional mansion tours and visits to the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts can introduce guests to the site’s history. The wedding rental also supports Rock Ford’s preservation and educational work, giving the celebration a lasting connection to the place.
