Historic Philadelphia Wedding Venue on the Avenue of the Arts

The Union League of Philadelphia is a historic Philadelphia wedding venue on the Avenue of the Arts, bringing more than 160 years of history to the heart of Center City. Located directly on South Broad Street, the landmark League House pairs grand architecture, an impressive art collection and richly detailed interiors with one of the city's most recognizable wedding locations.

Wedding Spaces at The Union League

Couples can choose from multiple event spaces throughout the historic League House, allowing the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception to unfold in different settings.

Highlights include:

  • Capacity: Up to 500 guests

  • Approximately 20,000 square feet of private event space

  • Lincoln Hall for grand wedding receptions

  • Multiple private dining rooms and event spaces

  • Sweeping staircases and historic architectural details

  • Lodging: 84 guest rooms, including 13 suites for members/member-sponsored guests

  • Membership: Private events must be hosted by a member or member-sponsored guest

  • Extensive art collection throughout the property

  • In-house culinary and pastry teams

  • Directly on South Broad Street near City Hall

The interiors offer plenty of portrait locations, but stepping outside adds another Philadelphia wedding tradition to the itinerary. Broad Street and City Hall are just beyond the doors, making the classic City Hall wedding portrait considerably easier to accomplish.

Guest Experience at The Union League

Weddings and private events at The Union League are hosted by members or member-sponsored guests, so couples who are not members will need sponsorship to hold their celebration at the League House.

The Inn at the League also has 84 guest rooms, including 13 suites, right inside the League House. Rooms are available to members and sponsored guests, giving wedding parties an unusually convenient place to stay without leaving the building.

A Center City Wedding With a Lot of History

The Union League was founded in 1862, and its League House has stood on Broad Street since 1865. Today, that history gives weddings a setting that feels unmistakably Philadelphia without needing much explanation.

Its Avenue of the Arts location also puts guests close to Center City hotels, restaurants, theaters and nightlife, making it easy to turn the celebration into a full Philadelphia wedding weekend.
