Tucked away in Newtown Square, you will find The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve, a 1930s Greek Revival building with a stone façade and enormous windows. 

When you walk up to the 200 acre estate, the historical venue is framed by hydrangeas on either side of its columned entrance and a nature preserve in the back. Head up the stairs past soaring pillars to enter the ballroom. There, you are met with high ceilings, modern chandeliers and classic elegance. 

The ballroom can host up to 400 guests cocktail style or 250 for a seated dinner reception. Certainly, it’s big enough to invite all of your friends and extended family! The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve is exclusive to Finley Catering.

Drexelbrook 

Just down State Road past the attendant, Drexelbrook is a Southern style mansion with multiple event spaces fit for sizeable receptions. It’s practically big enough to invite the whole neighborhood!

Located in Drexel Hill, the campus consists of the historic landmark known for special events, newly constructed restaurant and Holiday Inn & Suites Philadelphia West. Of course, it is surrounded by woods by the Darby Creek.

Step onto the Portico to the main entrance and you’ll see the square footage is massive. Once inside, you enter the lobby, just steps from its 14,872 square foot Grand Ballroom. Open the doors to countless crystal and gold chandeliers as gentile light streams through its windows and draped doors. The customizable ballroom can host up to 1,000. In addition, the South Ballroom and Center Ballroom can be combined to hold up to 300 guests. Finally, upstairs, Mansion Ballrooms are yet another choice but with smaller floor plans.

In addition, outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy al fresco patio seating at Streetlight Kitchen & Bar. There, cozy warm fire pits, relaxing lounges and a romantic flower wall set the scene. In addition, Streetlight has a full modern bar as well as indoor options. Inside, you will find Holiday Inn & Suites for comfortable onsite lodging. 

Finally, Drexelbrook is magical at dusk with warm lights against the night sky. It’s the perfect setting for a sparkler send off under the portico or stolen kiss on the terrace.

Lazaretto Ballroom

Wait, there’s more! Located on the Delaware River in Essington, Lazaretto Ballroom offers a significant 5,400 square feet of space to host up to 300. Imagine twirling on its wooden dance floor for your first dance by family and friends.

Next, open the doors to The Patio, a paved 1,500 square foot event space featuring manicured landscaping and a white arbor. It’s ideal for ceremonies, cocktail hour and more. Capozzoli Catering, a family business, exclusively owns and operates Lazaretto Ballroom.

Springfield Country Club

Wow, it’s no wonder that Springfield Country Club can host up to 1,500 with several ballrooms, three salons, six rooms and an atrium. In addition, there are countless options for romantic ceremony spaces.

Enter on the ground level where its Fairway Ballroom boasts scenic views and a covered patio. While it is the smallest of the three ballrooms, it can serve up to 225 guests. Next, grand doors open to sparkling chandeliers and scenic views in Golf View Ballroom. It holds 365 seated with a dance floor and connects to a veranda. However, it can allow for up to 700 for cocktail receptions. Lastly, The Grand Ballroom can hold up to 570 for a seated dinner with dancing. But, when combined with The Mahoney Room and Atrium, it allows for 900 with dining and dancing or 2,700 cocktail style.

Aptly named, historic Mendenhall Inn is located on the outskirts of Delaware County in the village of Mendenhall, PA. In fact, William Penn gifted one of three parcels to his daughter here.

Mendenhall Inn’s footprint includes two unique ballrooms, tavern, restaurant and hotel. Outside, woods surround The Grand Ballroom while the Gold Ballroom offers a spacious outdoor terrace. Finally, Mendenhall Inn can host up to 350 friends and family.
