Updike Farmstead is a historic wedding venue in Princeton, Mercer County, set on six acres surrounded by preserved farmland. Operated by the Historical Society of Princeton, the property brings together a restored farmhouse, an 1892 barn, gardens, and agricultural outbuildings within the Princeton Battlefield/Stony Brook Settlement Historic District.
The setting feels tucked into the countryside, yet downtown Princeton and Route 1 are just minutes away.
Event Spaces & Capacity
The property accommodates celebrations of up to 200 guests with additional tenting. The barn is best suited to weddings of approximately 125 guests or fewer, depending on the dining and dancing layout.
Historic barn: Vaulted rafters and exposed timber frame the indoor celebration space. Large barn doors open toward the courtyard and surrounding farmland.
Front lawn: An outdoor ceremony setting beside the historic farmhouse.
Back porch and backyard: Additional areas for gathering, cocktail hour, and enjoying the rural surroundings.
Farmhouse dressing space: A second-floor room is available for wedding preparations.
The windmill, wagon shed, gardens, and restored farmhouse offer several distinct settings for portraits.
Catering
Couples select from the venue’s designated catering partners. The caterers assist with day-of coordination, rental arrangements, reception setup, and breakdown.
Couples may provide their own alcohol, with service coordinated through their caterer.
