Whether you are planning a do-it-yourself wedding in Baltimore or just need a quick hand tied bouquet, here are some steps to make this endeavor easier.

First, visit your local flower wholesaler or local grocery store for a selection of about four different kinds of flowers with one larger flower as the focal point. Foliage is also essential. Also, pick up supplies such as corsage pins, raffia or florist wire and satin ribbon at a crafts store.

In order to get the best visual for your bouquet, start with the greenery. Trim the stems at an angle with florist scissors and spread out the bunch in a water filled vase. The foliage will be your foundation for the bouquet. Be sure to remove any thorns from roses or non-essential leaves from your flowers.

Begin with your large flower and place it in the middle of the foliage. Continue adding the smaller flowers of each kind in a clockwise rotation. Add some bling to your blooms if you like by popping a rhinestone here and there. These can be found at craft stores as well.

View the arrangement from the top down to look for symmetry. Then when you are satisfied with aesthetics, take florist wire or raffia to bind the stems tightly. Place your soon to be hand tied bouquet in water until right before the event. Then when it's "go time," wind the satin ribbon tightly to cover the binding and stems. Trim any excess stems peeking out from the ribbon. Secure the satin with a corsage pin or two. You are now ready to carry your hand tied bouquet for your Baltimore wedding or event.
