For your next event, we invite you to the Powel House. It is a historic mansion on Millionaire's Row in Philadelphia's Society Hill district. The Powel House is guaranteed to make your occasion one of lasting memories for you and your guests.

About

Powel House was built over 250 years ago for refined entertainment. The Georgian mansion continues to lend itself to elegant, beautiful, and serene occasions today.

Event Spaces & Capacity

Private rentals of our Powel House include the entirety of the museum and our 18th-century garden.

Ballroom: Dine in our stunning second-floor ballroom where George and Martha Washington celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Alternatively, dine beneath the stars in our lush garden.
Old City Gardens: Imagine gathering on our intimate lawn and gardens. Our garden is one of the only two private gardens in the Philadelphia historic district available to rent for 100 guests or fewer weddings.

Your guests will be delighted to learn that we have house managers on-site to provide history tours throughout your event.

History

The building's history and beauty enrich business dinners, weddings, ceremonies, convention meetings, and office parties.

The first floor's dining room and parlor adjoin the passage, featuring one of the most elegant colonial mahogany staircases. The second floor highlights the incredible Rococo ballroom. The adjacent withdrawing parlor is another elegant setting for cocktails, conversations, and dining.

Rentals Help Our Nonprofit

All revenues from private rental events at our Hill-Physick House and Gardens help us operate the nonprofit organization that maintains and preserves the properties!

Facility restrictions Prices do not include tenting fees. If numbers exceed indoor capacity, a tent MUST be reserved from Landmarks approved vendor in the event of inclement weather. There is no dancing inside the houses. Dancing, with mildly amplified music, may be done in the garden. A dance floor from Landmarks is approved vendor MUST be used. Music must end by 10pm. After 9pm volume must be lowered. Contracted starting time for events begins at the earlier of guestsí arrival or event start time. Rental fee to be paid at time of booking and will be used as the deposit to reserve your date. This booking deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Rental fees

Events start at 4 hours. For a ceremony and reception please account for one extra hour.

Monday through Friday $2,500

Saturday $3,000

Sunday $2,500

Extra Hour: $500

Prices do not include tenting fees. If numbers exceed indoor capacity, a tent MUST be reserved from our exclusive tenting vendor in the event of inclement weather. There is no dancing inside the houses. Dancing, with mildly amplified music, may be done in the garden. We do not allow DJs, amplified live bands, or dance floors. All events must end by 9pm.

Clients must work with one of our 9 preferred catering vendors (we do not allow self-service bars or potluck-style events).

A $1,000 refundable security deposit is required to confirm your rental. The rental fee and certificate of insurance are due one month before your rental.
